Two minutes, three decisions

Make the crop visible before it becomes a problem

A resizer changes pixel dimensions. A wallpaper editor also resolves the aspect-ratio mismatch and shows where the phone UI will sit.

  1. Open your photo The browser decodes it locally. Use a personal photo without sending it to a cloud editor.
  2. Choose the honest fit Fit keeps everything, Fill crops overflow, and Blur fill keeps the whole subject while filling the screen.
  3. Check, then export Move the subject outside clock and icon zones. Download the exact output dimensions shown in the status panel.

Useful starting points

Common phone wallpaper sizes

Use the display resolution when you know the model. The safest exact method is to inspect a screenshot from the same phone and enter its pixel width and height.

Preset Pixels (portrait) Aspect Best use
iPhone 16 Pro 1206 × 2622 ≈ 19.6:9 Exact preset for the 16 Pro display
iPhone 16 Pro Max 1320 × 2868 ≈ 19.6:9 Large modern iPhone lock screens
Pixel 9 1080 × 2424 20.2:9 Pixel 9 screenshot-sized export
Galaxy S24 / S25 1080 × 2340 19.5:9 Current standard Galaxy S models
Galaxy S24 / S25 Ultra 1440 × 3120 19.5:9 QHD+ Ultra display output
Generic Android 20:9 1080 × 2400 20:9 A practical fallback when the model is unknown

A screen resolution is a preset, not a visibility guarantee. iOS and Android may zoom, scroll, apply motion effects, or place widgets over the bitmap. Keep faces and text inside the visible subject-safe guide.

Fit, fill, or blur

One mismatch, three valid answers

Stretching changes the subject’s shape. This editor always preserves the original aspect ratio and lets you choose what happens to the remaining space.

01 / FIT

Keep the whole photo

Scales until every edge fits inside the phone. Any extra screen area uses your chosen solid color. Best for posters, text, artwork, and group photos.

02 / FILL

Use every screen pixel

Scales until the phone is covered, then crops the overflow. Drag to keep the face, pet, or horizon where you want it. Best for full-bleed photography.

03 / BLUR

Keep the subject and the screen

Shows the full photo over a softened copy that fills the background. Best when you want no hard border and no lost subject.

Straight answers

Phone wallpaper questions

The right answer depends on your source ratio, phone pixels, and whether seeing the whole photo matters more than filling every edge.

What size should a phone wallpaper be?

Use your display resolution or, more reliably, the pixel dimensions of a screenshot made on that phone. Select a preset or enter the screenshot width and height under Exact output pixels.

How do I make a picture fit without cropping?

Choose Fit for a solid background or Blur fill for a photo-based background. Both keep the entire source visible. Fill intentionally crops the overflow.

Will the editor stretch or distort my photo?

No. Every mode uses one uniform scale for width and height. The status panel tells you whether the result crops, pads, or matches the target ratio.

Does the website upload or store my image?

No image leaves your browser. JavaScript reads the selected file into memory, Canvas composes the result, and your browser creates the download. Refreshing the page clears that working state.

Why does my phone crop a correctly sized wallpaper?

Some launchers add zoom, motion, scrolling, or parallax after you choose the file. Pinch outward in the phone’s wallpaper setup screen where supported, disable motion effects, or keep critical content farther from the edges.

What format should I download?

Choose JPEG for photographs and smaller files, PNG for sharp text or graphics, and WebP when your phone and workflow accept it. The selected format does not change the output pixels.

Can I use a landscape photo as a portrait wallpaper?

Yes. Fit and Blur fill preserve the wide frame. Fill creates a narrow portrait crop; drag left or right to choose which part remains visible.

Are the clock and icon guides included in the download?

No. They are preview overlays only. They help you place the subject, but the exported wallpaper contains only your composition.

Evidence, not folklore

How the presets and editor work

Presets come from manufacturer display specifications. The composition uses standard browser file and Canvas APIs.

Manufacturer pixels

Apple’s comparison page, Google’s Pixel hardware table, and Samsung’s device specifications provide the display-resolution starting points.

Read the size method

Uniform Canvas scaling

Canvas 2D draws each source with one scale factor. Fit uses the smaller width/height ratio; Fill uses the larger one.

Local file handling

The File API exposes only the file you choose. Canvas exports a new Blob inside the browser, which becomes the download.
